Pottermore Book 2 Release Date Theory

There is a LOT of confusion about if Book 2 of Pottermore is already available, and when it will be released. To address the first issue, book 2 is not available just yet. As to the second issue, the Pottermore team has yet to announce when it will officially be released. At the end of chapter 17, you will be presented with the following message:

According to them, it will be here “soon”, which is very vague. Now, I have a theory of when it will be released. I am not sure how accurate it is, as it’s just a theory. However, it does make some sense. The short answer: I believe it will be released at the end of March 2012, or in April 2012. Here’s why:

Over the last few weeks, Pottermore has been officially posting one set of fan art every week for each chapter in Book 1. There are a total of 17 chapters in book 1, and we recently posted the fan art for Chapter 5. At the rate of officially releasing one set of fan art every week, they will reach Chapter 17 at the end of March in early April.

If you think about it, it makes more logical sense to release book 2 after they have posted all the fan art for book 1, than to release it while they are in the middle of book 1. If anything, it will be released a few weeks after book 1’s fan art has all been posted, and not before.

  2. Yeah HOW about they discuss when Pottermore is going to be open for the REST OF US.
    It’s been over three months since it was supposed to open and it still isn’t.

    • Hi just wanted to give you a brief heads up and let you know a few of the igaems aren’t loading properly. I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue. I’ve tried it in two different internet browsers and both show the same outcome.

  3. I can only hope! I’ve heard as far as December 2012! Only about 3 more moths will be better than 11!

  4. Hmm…

    That’s a theory. Mine is that the site will open to all sometime between March and June and the store will officially open either at the same time or with in a month. My guess is that the 2nd book will not be released until the initial rush of new people on the site chills out and a steady rhythm of people signing up, looking through the first book and interacting on the site forms.

    My guess for a date the 2nd book will appear? Next fall.

    Why? Once March or April hits, an announcement will be made about when the site will open to the public and then the Pottermore blog will have a whole rush of new content to post.

  6. I think thats a good theory because thats also when they said that pottermor would be open to the public. It makes allot of sense 🙂

    • yh but thing is pottermore has opened to the public but the second book isnt out which tbh is crap. so your theroy if u can call it tht didnt work.

  8. 15th April… It’s mean today, Pottermore was opened to all the world! I think that the 2nd book will be in June or July… but, I hope that it’ll be soon !

  9. Pottermore is now open to anyone, but book 2 is not released yet. Please hurry with it.

    • Just hoping that it’ll come out soon though! I know it makes sense, but they can’t make us wait another seven years?! I’m ill do it but pottermore does’t have enough in it to be a book or a film. It’s amazing but it isn’t a book, its information about the book. I rally hope they release it soon!

    • but it wouldnt make sense to post a new book every year because it onl takes a week to finish each book. the theory above is a good one and sounds about right, but right now its June 20 so it should be released next month but not next year.

    but i actually want them to take their time, i dont want them to rush the scenes and features xD

  12. That is not correct because it is past early April, and I haven’t got it. So nobody believe him!

    • Well, you gotta give him credit, he tried his best to crack the code. And if you think about it, the theory was a very intelligent one. I think that they will release the chapters little by little, because we Potter fans -being so pushy and impatient- really kinda forced them to. I think that they are simply trying to take their time and not be rushed. It’s best that we enjoy what we wait for- correct??

      And it’s true, I already have the first four chapter read and re-read. 🙂

  14. For me, it will open in September, because on one end and although they going, where he spends the summer in their home and then arrives in September and they go to school again. This my opinion and KSS.

  16. Well, sadly it wasn’t a correct theory! If we follow the books logic, another possibility would be around August 2012. That’s the time of the year when the story begins, before Harry’s birthday. They may be willing to keep this spot to make the adventure more “realistic”.

    • I thought that Harry’s birthday was in July… so why would it be released in August??

  17. It is probably going to release a few months later when Pottermore starts to get boring. then the new book will get people to go Pottermore again.

  31. That theory is thouroughly wrong because its to late for that to be posible. My theory is that because pottermore/book 1 was reaslease in the fall (the start of a new school year) that book 2 will come out fall of 2012.

    • Too long. Why would J.K. Rowling do that? I agree that it is a realistic theory, but it seems that she would clearly understand what we wait for everyday, and she wouldn’t make it any longer. Plus the first four chapters were released already :/

  32. If it takes this long to release the second book, I’ll be dead before all 7 come out! Not that I’ll be too old, I will literally commit suicide if I have to live without Pottermore!

  34. It’s JUNE now, still nothing! MayB it will come after the summerholiday? In that way it would be realistic, because that is when Harry returns to Hogwarts. But If it continues like that, it will take 6 years to complete the story…

    • You people are SO impatient. I understand that you are all disappointed that the whole book hasn’t been released yet, but it obviously needs modifications and J.K. Rowling is trying her best to have you enjoy what you are waiting for.

  36. I just checked the Pottermore Insider, as of May 28 they were recording sound for the second book, so it will probably be open in a few weeks.

  40. June and still nothing. :/ It’ll probably come out around September, since that’s when Hogwarts starts it’s school year.

  41. I will not be playing much longer if all I can do is Wizards Duels and Potions, it gets boring fast. Long live Slytherin but, come on. It took like an hour to get through book one and all I have are duels and potions? Ungodly boring.

  43. June – and no sign of a new book. I wish Pottermore would just communicate a little better. Even if they say “not until 2013” its still preferable to waiting and not knowing. At least we then have something to look forward to.

    There are rumors that a book will be released every YEAR. Which means Chamber of Secrets will be released next year, so do they expect us to wait on the site for 6 years?

    I place my trust in the admins. I hope the rumors are fake.

    • That could be true, the first few chapter are up and it might mean that they plan on releasing the rest on his birthday. The only thing that has me doubt it is that the chapter of Harry’s birthday is already up. So what’s the point if we already read about his birthday??

  55. Maybe they release the second book between July 31 and September 1. In July is the same date, and we have to go shopping Lockhart books, so…We just have to wait

  57. i got on my pottermore yesterday and the first 4 chapters were open i already went through them im sure the rest of the chapters will be open real soon.

  62. Yeah Book 2 is already out but you can only do the first 4 chapters. I have been patiently waiting for the rest to come out. I love pottermore, I just wish the process of getting the others opened would speed up a bit.

  63. Now they have opened just 4 Chapters of the second book and we don’t know when is going to come the next. I’m waiting for the locked Chapter 5 more than a week!
    When is going these come!?
