There has been many users asking for the release time for Day 5. Assume the date is August 4th unless otherwise specified. Below are the local time for many cities around the world. The date is August 4 unless otherwise specified. 9:30AM to 1PM means that it will be available for SOME time during that period, not that it will be available during the entire timeframe. The Magic Quill can be released at ANY time within the timeframe.

There has also been users asking about being redirected to Sony’s website with regards to the Magic Quill. The magic quill is SUPPOSED to take you to a website, and you are supposed to do some magic on the quill on the page.

In addition, there has been many users talking about how they were unable to get the Magic Quill today. As previously mentioned “not everyone who solved the Day 4 clue was able to find The Magical Quill.” It seems like the Pottermore team purposely made it so some of the solvers could register. If you didn’t have the chance to register today, don’t get discouraged. Once again, tomorrow, we will be posting as soon as we see the clue for Day 5. We will be tweeting on our Twitter account as well!

  2. I solved the riddle and entered in the answer into the URL, but I was not taken to the magical quill nor the registration page. Instead, I was sent to a page with a purple wallpaper counting down from 15 seconds. The page asked me to wait 15seconds… Unfortunately after waiting, the page would redirect me to the same purple 15 second page. After about a few minutes, I was sent to pottermore.com telling me that Day 4 Registration was closed.

    I fell in a bottomless ditch of resentment.

    Can anyone explain to me why I wasn’t redirected to the registration page like everyone else? All my friends told me they skipped the quill,but were able to register.

    • It did the exact same thing to me. I answered the question and submitted the answer into the URL but it redirected me to the same page. I was really annoyed. ):

    • I really hope that doesnt happen to me. My sister got in and gave my other sister an account but not me!! I knew she loved me less!!

    • Hey they were having difficulties on the site due to the amount of people trying to do the same thing at the same time. Keep your head up and try again tomorrow. It’s worth it when Pottermore tells you that you’re magical 😀

    • That was because there were so many people going onto that page at the time so it would tell you to wait till the number of people decreased, you were just unlucky. Try getting up at aroung 5 am and refresh the page every 5 minutes until the clue popps up. Thats how I got on yesterday. Hope this helps!

    • what country do you live in …i’m in NZ what time would i need to get up to try ?

    • That happened to me too, but at the last minute I got in. I wish you luck for tomorrow. 🙂

    • You were too late, everybody who solved the clue quickly would be take to the registration page (Use Mozilla FireFox 😀 )

    • The same thing happened to me eight hours i had been waiting at my computer then it continuously counted from 15 and one minute and a half later Sorry, Day 4 registration is now closed.
      I was devistated, so don’t feel down, but I’m gonna try again! But i don’t know why your freinds got to skip it and you were not aloud on to it, does anyone know what time it opens t0day?

    • it’s because you can still answer after it even though registration is closed, so when you answered it was too late

    • well, considering 500 million ppl, literally, are at the same site at the same time doing that same thing, and maybe you have a slower comp… idk..

    • hehehe…I haven’t gotten on, but I know how to. There is two pages you could get redirected to. One page is a page where there is a purple backround, and it’s photos. There is a picture of a small quill on the first page of pictures. It should be glowing. It’s in the bottom right corner of the pictures. Click on it. You should get redirected to a page where you can register. If not, then it isn’t open in your part of the country, or there is no spots left open for the day. There is another page where you have to catch the golden quill. It’s pretty easy to tell the difference between the quills and the magical quill. It’s GLOWING. It’s hard to miss. It’s quicker to, so you have to be quick to catch it. Then as I said earlier..youeither go to a regestration page, or you don’t. Remember, as Mad-Eye Moody…well, who we THOUGHT was Mad-Eye.. always said: CONSTANT VIGILANCE!!

  4. @justin the clue is only available for a CERTAIN time. I got that 15 second timeout thing too, only after it was DONE did I see the registration page. And that was at 10 a.m.. If you try again tomorrow IN TIME for the next clue, hopefully you’ll avoid that problem and get proper entry to Pottermore.

  5. This suspense is killing me! I want to go to bed but I need to know when I have to wake up and make an attempt at Pottermore…how dreadful. Still, I’m very excited! Checking back regularly to see who knows what!

    • Essentially if they do it within 8 hours of the comment, United States folks will be seeing two Magic Quills in one day, which isn’t something I think they would do.

    • I stayed up all night on the third clue night and I had like five hours sleep but that was after 6 am EST so I slept during the day and I was on vacation not fun! However I feel staying up all night is not harmless.

    • it makes it hard that the time zones are weird. im glad though that i got the 10:00 to 2:00 pm time set. miday, i dont have to wory about stayng up all nite to get registration.

  7. Everyone that has posted comments is in the future! It’s still Wednesday here. I keep missing the clues because they’re always posted at like 3am. 🙁 I’m hoping this clue will come at an easier time.

  9. at least you’re not from California, the clues always show up at times that are so late in the night that it’s hard to function the next day if you do stay up for it.. so late that it’s early in the day… =(

    • You and me both. I’m in California, too, and I have work so I obviously can’t just stay up all night. Wish it was more of a reasonable time.

To anyone who tries to go to the pottermore site when the clue has been released and gets the “error” or “wait 15 seconds page” and has it refresh over and over but doesn’t get to the actual clue. INSTEAD of doing all this. Go to google, type in pottermore. the first result will most likely be the link to the official site, but instead of clicking to go there, underneath it should say “cached”. Click to view a cached version of the pottermore home page. It won’t have all the glitz and glamor stuff, but it’ll have the text from the site INCLUDING THE CLUE FOR THE DAY. From there on out you can solve the clue 🙂

  14. I understand that you must get tired of answering questions regarding the release of Clue 5, but I would just like to know if we are going to receive a time frame like we did with the other clues, and if so, by what time can we expect it.

    • the clue for the third day was How many points was Gryffindor benitag Slytherin by when Harry caught the snitch? multiply the answer 35.got my validation email and everything now just waiting for my owl to show up to let me in.and fyi the access started at 6:00 am EST (Eastern Standard Time)name is AurorSilver74 🙂

  21. so i live in new york and right now it’s 12:45 am on august 4th…i’m tired as poop but i dont know if i should even sleep for an hour and risk it…what should i do? do you think it will be sometime in the next couple of hours?

  30. i know i made registration and what happened was now when i try 2 activate it 6 hours later then registration i have a problem apparently. I am annoyed as i stayed up real late

  34. Heard there were patterns. I live in california. Day 1 opened at 1 am
    Day 2 opened at 2 am.
    Day 3 is when I got it and I checked at 3 am and it was open got my spot.

  38. UPDATED: So far, all the clues have appeared in the early hours of the morning in my time zone. Will this continue for the remainder of The Magical Quill challenge?
    We know that Harry Potter fans around the world are taking part in the challenge, so we will be varying the times that the clues are revealed. We can tell you that today’s clue (Day 5) will be released between 4.30pm and 8.00pm BST.

  39. Apparently on INSIDER POTTERMORE its states that day 5 will be released 4:30pm – 8:00pm BST. does anyone know what that is for australian time?

  42. The official pottermore twitter account says between 4.30 p.m. and 8 p.m. BST. Good luck everyone!

  44. Pottermore clue 5 will be released between 4.30pm and 8.00pm BST.

    The clue will be about the 5th book (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.)

  66. i really need help! i registered on day1! i found the magical quill and everything and i was able to register up to the time that the website asked me to check my inbox for the CONFIRMATION email that is supposed to validate my registration! until now i have no confirmation email.. i do not mean the welcome email but i really mean the CONFIRMATION email..someone help me please

    • check pottermore insider blog for email problems..I registered today, and the confirmation arrived in about an hour..they said that yahoo mail had problems in the first few days but that issue has now been resolved..but if it’s been over 48 hours since you registered, they may no longer keep the spot, I’m sorry but you migt have to register again. They have posted day 6 and 7 times, both on Friday for the U.S. on pottermore insider. Hope that helps.

  68. Day 5 times, i live in North Queensland, right at the top, im assuming id go by the same time as Brisbane, as that is the key timezone here, what time do i get on, its now near 1:45 and no day 5 clue yet

  70. i really need help! i was able to register on DAY1 and i got in, and i reached the point wherein i was told to check my inbox or junk folder for the CONFIRMATION email to validate my registration and until NOW i have no CONFIRMATION email! i check my email religiously! i swear! come on..help me please! should i register again?! i have asked around from everyone i know and i am the ONLY ONE not to receive the CONFIRMATION! what happened?!

  73. I live in NH and therefore my Registration time should be 11:30 to 3. I’ve been refreshing the page every few minutes since 11:30 and it keeps saying day 4 registration is closed, but it’s day 5. Anyone know why it’s doing this?

  87. Apparently registration is till open now in England for another hour or so, I’ve entered the correct website to find the quill but i either get re-directed to the official Pottermore website where is says the clue or i get re-directed to here: http://harrypotter.scholastic.com/.

    Any help because I’m confused as to why it won’t work?

  91. when you get to the scholastic website you click on the ad at the top of the screen for the magic quill. it should direct you to the registration page if its still open

  92. i waited for the forth and the fifth clue to appear for the entire day and it did not appear in both days what shall i do now 🙁

    can anyone tell me what is the suitable browser i use for that

    • I used internet explorer, though did you check if you have ad-block on? The magic quill shows up on the ad area ( or for day 5 it did), so you may need to unblock your ad-block. Hope it works! Good luck!

  96. I was informed about the Magical Quill on the Day 3. And I read this cheat just now and day 5 registration is now closed, there are 2 days more left. 🙁 Does anybody knows the release time for Day 6 in Manila, Philippines? HELP! :((
